LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Back to the Future', the beloved sci-fi comedy franchise, is making a comeback to Netflix after a three-year absence.

The franchise, created by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, follows high school student Marty McFly and eccentric scientist Dr Emmett "Doc" Brown as they time travel using a DeLorean, exploring different periods in Hill Valley, California.

The first film of the franchise, released in 1985, was a massive blockbuster, leading to sequels in 1989 and 1990.

As the franchise returns to Netflix, take a look at what the cast members are up to four decades after the first film was released.

Michael J Fox played the lead in all the films of the franchise. He appeared as Marty McFly, a high school student and aspiring musician.

He went on to star in notable projects such as 'Teen Wolf' (1985), ‘The Frighteners' (1996), and 'The Good Wife' (2010–2016). He also voiced the lead roles in the 'Stuart Little' films (1999–2005)

He is the proud recipient of five Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and a Grammy Award. Additionally, he has authored four books.

In the 90s, Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and he has dedicated himself to advocacy and raising funds for research since then.

In 2020, he retired from acting as the disease made it difficult for him to remember dialogues. However, in 2024, he told Entertainment Tonight that he would consider making a comeback "if something came up that I could put my realities into it — my challenges — if I could figure it out.”

The 63-year-old actor has been married to Tracy Pollan since 1988 and they have four children.
