'Bachelor In Paradise' Season 9: Blake Moynes dubs ex-fiancee Katie Thurston's entry 'worst nightmare' amid relationship with Jess Girod
SAYULITA, MEXICO: Blake Moynes and Jess Girod appeared to be completely smitten by each other in 'Bachelor In Paradise' Season 9. However, Blake's ex-fiancee Katie Thurston arrived at the beach in Episode 8 of the ABC show, leaving his connection with Jess in jeopardy.
Notably, Blake and Katie started following each other on social media again soon after filming in Mexico. Additionally, the former couple was also spotted together in early November for a wildlife conservation event in San Diego.
After her entry, Blake called Katie's arrival the "worst nightmare." In the latest episode, Blake admitted, "I was in love with this girl. I have not seen her in two years."
He added, "It's kind of the worst nightmare." When she arrived on the beach, Katie introduced herself and said, "If you don't know me, I am Katie. I was a past Bachelorette. I'm going to pull Blake aside and we'll chat a little bit."
However, Blake's co-star Mercedes Northup shared that Katie's arrival would be "hard" for Jess. She noted, "I mean, they're literally in a relationship and in comes your ex-fiancee."
Meanwhile, Katie admitted to Blake that she was "shaking" while Blake said he was "soaking this in." Katie noted, "I am sorry that things went the way they did." She also said, "If I could go back and redo it all, I would."
Blake was a bit surprised and replied, "[You’re] throwing me for a loop right now." In a confessional, Blake admitted Katie's arrival has added "more confusion to the confusion."
Blake Moynes and Katie Thurston meet for the first time after their split
Blake Moynes and Katie Thurston got engaged in 'The Bachelorette' Season 17. However, they soon parted ways in October 2021, claiming that distance drove them apart.
However, Blake and Katie met again for the first time on 'Bachelor In Paradise' Season 9. In August, Katie revealed that filming Season 9 of 'Bachelor in Paradise' was the exes' first reunion.
She also confirmed that seeing Blake on the beach was their "first time seeing/speaking since we split 1.5 years ago." However, she claimed on her Instagram story, "Can’t say much more for now."
Why is Katie Thurston on 'Bachelor In Paradise'?
Katie Thurston was rumored to appear on 'Bachelor In Paradise' Season 9 just to get closure from Blake Moynes. However, Katie recently offered clarification on her role in the upcoming season of the ABC show.
Katie admitted on her Instagram story that this was not the case. Katie wrote, "I was NOT invited to get closure."
She responded to a follower who compared her arrival to that of Kendall Long, who arrived on the beach when her ex-boyfriend Joe Amabile had taken major steps in his budding relationship with his now-wife, Serena Pitt.
