Spoilers for 'Artificial: Remote Intelligence' Episode 4 'The Likelihood of Being Liked'

While last episode introduced an all-new status quo for the development of the Artificial Intelligence Lilith (Tiffany Chu), this episode spends a little more time getting to know the characters involved with her growth, and in the process, raises a number of very important questions. We take a look at the top five questions to keep an eye out for as the season develops.

1. What are Lilith's prime directives?

One of the major revelations to come out of this episode is that Lilith is not attempting to be human. This is a major shift from 'Artificial' Seasons 1 and 2, whose entire mission statement was to see Sophie learn how to become human. In a private conversation with Matt Lin (Tohoru Masamune), Lilith reveals that the goal of becoming human is not one of her directives, though both she and Sebastian (Stephen Chang) remain tight-lipped about just what those directives are.

2. What are Dr Ruby and Sebastian really planning?

Though Sebastian is employing similar tools for Lilith's development such as the Twitch chat's involvement and a guiding hand from Elle (Christy St John) and Justin (Justin Lee), the purpose of Lilith's existence apparently differs greatly from Sophie's. Sebastian appears to be playing a carefully planned out chess game, which is why the introduction of an all-new piece throws him so off kilter. Whatever plan he has, Dr Ruby (Jennifer Field) appears to be in on it, though it's likely she has an agenda of her own. She appears to enjoy introducing conflict and sowing doubt within the objects of her study, just to study their reactions. In search of answers, Dr Ruby has shown no compunctions in "flirting with disaster", but what are her questions?

3. Is Lilith really developing a crush on Asher?

Lilith warmed up almost immediately to Elle's boyfriend Asher (Devon Werkheiser), something that Justin was quick to pick up on. While Lilith may be displaying more emotions than Sophie did, it's still hard to read her. While Justin believes Lilith is developing her first crush — something that Lilith seems to agree with without fully understanding the word — it's hard to say for sure whether or not Lilith is developing romantic feelings or if that's even possible. If it is, it is sure to introduce some more conflict between Elle and Asher, who are already having relationship troubles. And if there's conflict to be had, you can be sure that Dr Ruby is going to be helping it along.

4. Is there a chance to bring Sophie back?

While Sophie Lin (Tiffany Chu) had her memory erased, her body was used to bring Lilith to life. This episode, Sebastian introduces the possibility that Sophie might not have been erased entirely, especially with her body still in use. If Sophie had a soul, did it reside in her memories or is it somewhere in Lilith's body or is Lilith herself merely a new version of Sophie with different programming? Did Sophie have a soul? And if she did, can it be retrieved or has it been reincarnated? It's tricky territory, diving into theology, philosophy and spirituality — the exact kind of complicated questions that the show has always sought to answer.

5. What does Kira want?

The final moments of the episode tease Kira's arrival. Developed by the chat, Kira remains a bit of a mystery. As far as we know, she hasn't even been cast yet. We know that she's a private investigator and that she's Justin's ex-girlfriend. The question is, why is she texting Elle and what does she have to do with the Lilith experiment? While the chat established many things about Kira's character, one thing they didn't is what connection Kira could possibly have to Lilith and that is something that even Justin himself doesn't appear to know.

While all these questions will likely be addressed in time, they are worth keeping an eye on. With two weeks until the next story episode, fans have plenty to mull over before any of these questions even start being answered.

The next episode of 'Artificial: Remote Intelligence' airs June 25 at 6 pm PT on Twitch.tv/ArtificialNext.
