Arrowverse has planned the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' episodes in a particular order for a reason and it makes perfect sense

'Supergirl' serves as the opener for the multiverse shattering event which ends with 'Legends of Tomorrow'.
PUBLISHED AUG 28, 2019

The Arrowverse is all set to bring in its own version of 'Avengers: Endgame' this Fall on TV. With the much-anticipated 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' finally happening this season, the epic battle will see heroes and villains from multiple earths unite to take on the Anti-Monitor, an entity bent on destroying worlds.  The Arrowverse kicked off in 2012 with 'Arrow' and given the schedule of episodes that focus on 'Crisis', many expected the finale to be slotted as part of Arrow's final season. Call it a fitting tribute to the emerald archer or just a wave of emotion. However, the final episode is scheduled as part of 'Legends of Tomorrow' and we're pretty sure why the creators have planned this out the way they have. Before we look at the logic behind the scheduling, here's how the 'Crisis' episodes are spread out.

'Supergirl'- December 8

'Batwoman'- December 9

'The Flash'- December 10

'Arrow'- January 14

'DC's Legends of Tomorrow'- January 14

It's understandable why 'Supergirl' is the season opener. The last moments of the season 4 finale showed Mar Novu the Monitor (LaMonica Garret) taking Lex’s (Jon Cryer) corpse for purposes unknown, hinting he will likely be returning from the dead in season 5. It is possible that the episode may show the heroes teaming up, taking stock and having a plan against the Monitor. With the episodes also bringing in Batman and Superman from other worlds, 'Supergirl' seems like a perfect platform to kickstart the multiverse shattering battle.

Followed by 'Batwoman'. In its pilot season, it's essential that the show builds a solid audience. At the moment, the plotline from the trailer is enough to suggest that the show will be an origin story. However, three trailers that have collectively spanned close to 8mn views have received negative reviews and putting in a crisis episode may just be key to not just showcase chapter two of the epic saga, but also pave the way forward for the show. 'Crisis' was first teased on 'The Flash'. The opening episode saw a newspaper date stamp set in 2024 and read that the scarlet speedster had vanished. While there have been theories surrounding his disappearance, the third episode may focus heavily on the fates of Oliver Queen aka the Green Archer (Stephen Amell) and Barry Allen aka The Flash (Grant Gustin).  As much as we hate to say this, 'Arrow's episode will most definitely see one of the characters getting killed off. At this moment, it could be Barry, it could be Oliver, although our bet's on the second one. Giving Queen a heroic death during this battle would also signify a fitting send-off to the character rounding up his arc.

Finally, there's 'Legends of Tomorrow'. The show may deal with the aftermath of the battle and may also set up new seasons of the other shows. All this, of course, is just a take on why the episodes have been planted on shows the way they are. Perhaps, it's just the way they wanted it to, or there might be a working theory behind it.

Nonetheless, we can't wait.
