'Army of the Dead': Release date, plot, cast, and all you need to know of the upcoming Zack Snyder zombie flick
Fans of zombie movies and shows, even if they have gotten tired of ‘The Walking Dead’ have something to look forward to. Filmmaker Zack Snyder is making a zombie flick called ‘Army of the Dead’ and one can only imagine what the director of the iconic 2004 remake of George Romero's horror classic ‘Dawn of the Dead’ has in store for us. Originally planned as a sequel to his 2004 action flick by Warner Bros. in 2007, the estimated $90-million project has now been taken over by Netflix.
Release date:
While no official release date has been announced yet, Snyder said the film was likely to premiere on Netflix in the winter of 2020.
Plot:
Speaking to radio station WMMR, Snyder said, “The movie takes place in Las Vegas. A zombie plague hits Vegas, and they’re able to contain the virus to the city – they build a wall out of shipping containers. And then the city falls. And six years later, one of the casino owners hires this group of zombie soldiers to go get his money that he left in a safe in the casino.”

Dave Bautista

Snyder has been one of the most notable filmmakers in Hollywood in the last decade. With comic book adaptations like ‘300’, ‘Watchmen’, ‘Man of Steel’, ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and ‘Justice League’, Snyder has made a reputation for delivering grand cinematic moments and larger-than-life visuals.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about ‘Army of the Dead’, Snyder said, “There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one.”
Talking about directing an undead flick after a host of superhero movies, Snyder added, “I thought this was a good palate cleanser to really dig in with both hands and make something fun and epic and crazy and bonkers in the best possible way.”
