Oscars 2018: Armie Hammer's wife sues woman who impersonated her to score an after-party invite
Elizabeth Chambers is suing a woman who allegedly tried to impersonate her, hoping to gain access inside the coveted Vanity Fair Oscars after-party this Sunday.
Let's be honest, we all have dreamt of attending the Oscars after-party but we surely don't want to do it by impersonating an A-list couple.
There's a limit to our imagination, but in this case, no boundaries were drawn when a woman wanted to score an invite to a party on Hollywood's biggest night.
A woman identified by the name of Diana Roque Ellis used actor Armie Hammer's wife, Elizabeth Chambers', name to get access to the coveted Vanity Fair Oscars after-party.
Elizabeth is now suing Ellis big time.
The 35-year-old claims in a lawsuit that a woman by the name Diana Roque Ellis used an email address making it appear she was Elizabeth in an attempt to gain access to the party, reports TMZ.
Chambers says the fraudulent emails stated the sender was Elizabeth and asked if she and Armie could bring an extra guest.
The Vanity Fair party planners wanted to know the name of the plus one and she named herself, replying "Diana Ellis".
The fake email id looked authentic since Diana had signatures of Elizabeth's home address. The suspicion began when the email stated that Diana would be arriving separately and asked that the invite be sent directly to Diana, according to Elizabeth's lawsuit.
The Texas native wants damages for "misappropriation of name." She also wants an injunction against Diana prohibiting her from using her name, according to the site.
Armie's latest film Call Me By Your Name is up for Best Picture on the big night, against 'Darkest Hour', 'Dunkirk', 'Get Out', 'Lady Bird', 'Phantom Thread', 'The Post', 'The Shape Of Water', and 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri'. His co-star and on-screen lover Timothee Chamalet meanwhile is nominated for Best Actor.
Armie is also set to present one of the awards on the night.
