'Aquaman 2': Emilia Clarke to Blake Lively, here are the fan options if Amber Heard is cut from movie

While there are conflicting reports regarding Amber Heard's role as Mera in 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom', fans have been busy on social media putting out their options on which actress can essay the role if Warner Brothers decide to recast the character. From 'Game of Thrones' star Emilia Clarke to Blake Lively, there were enough names that did the rounds on Twitter. A spokesperson for Heard told Variety that the rumor mill was churned out from day one and called the report "inaccurate, insensitive and slightly insane."

Heard played Mera in the first 'Aquaman' movie starring Jason Momoa, and has subsequent appearances in 'Justice League' and 'Zack Snyder's Justice League'. The 'Never Back Down;' actress has been in the headlines in recent months due to the public defamation trial where her ex-husband, Johnny Depp sued for a column in a reputed daily in 2018 that said he was physically abusive. Quite recently, the verdict ordered her to pay Depp $10 million and $350,000 in compensatory punitive damages.

This was seconded by another who said, "I would so Watch Aquaman if @DCComics would actually cast @emiliaclarke as Mera In the DC Cinematic Universe taking Amber hearts spotlight obviously."

"I hope they do recast her in Aquaman 2 there is still time. The movie does not come out until a year. It may cost them money to re-shoot everything or just shoot different scenes. But it’s possible unless they delayed the movie until 2024 which wouldn’t be that bad," one of the tweets read. "@DCU_Direct @DCComics I have some suggestions for the role of #Mera in #Aquaman starting with who should have been from the beginning Emilia Clarke @emiliaclarke she is amazing actress and super talented and compelling in any role she's given. Please make it possible," a fan remarked.

"Blake Lively should play her character in the future!" one of the tweets opined. "If they decide to pull a All the Money in the World then I’d cast Blake Lively to be the new Mera," one of the comments read. "Many people petitioned to have Blake Lively step in and reshoot what little things are necessary for Mera. It's noteworthy that Blake Lively has never threatened nor abused her husband Ryan Reynolds. I think this is a brilliant idea. And I don't care what amber thinks," a comment said.

It is worth noting that Clarke has a Marvel project up her sleeve and will be seen in 'Secret Invasion' alongside Cobie Smulders and Samuel L Jackson who reprise their roles as Agent Maria Hill and Nick Fury. Meanwhile, Heard brought back the whiplash she faced on social media after the trial earlier this week: "Even somebody who is sure I’m deserving of all this hate and vitriol, even if you think that I’m lying, you still couldn’t look me in the eye and tell me that you think on social media there’s been a fair representation,” she said. “You cannot tell me that you think that this has been fair."
