M. Night Shyamalan has been signed on by Apple for a new thriller series
The online streaming service is attempting to move into the original content space.
M. Night Shyamalan is going to be producing a thriller series for Apple. The streaming service signed on Shyamalan to executively produce the psychological thriller that is is being written by Tony Basgallop.
The streaming service is hoping for a strong entry into the world of original content. According to Variety, the series will have half-hour shows spanning 10 episodes.
The details for the series are currently under wrap. Shyamalan's production house Blinding Edge Pictures will be spearheading the series' production. 'After Earth' producer, Ashwin Rajan will be serving as executive producer. Joining him will be Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch. Taylor Latham, who produced 'Lol', will be co-executive producing.
Shyamalan previously ventured into the television space so this is not a first for the director. He had executively produced the Fox series 'Wayward Pines', which saw its end after two seasons. More famously known for his movie 'Sixth Sense', Shyamalan recently wrote, directed and produced the hit movie 'Split'. Right now, Shyamalan is preparing for its sequel 'Glass'.
Apple is making its mark in the original content space. The streaming service has been steadily adding on to their growing portfolio. Apple has also signed on Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon to star in a morning show drama which was announced in January. Apple is also rebooting television's classic 'Amazing Stories' which ran in the United States from 1985 to 1987.
