'Westworld' season 3: Release date, plot, cast, trailers and everything you need to know about the sci-fi HBO series
The sci-fi HBO drama 'Westworld' has been renewed for season three. Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the show is based on the 1973 film of the same name by Michael Crichton and even takes inspiration from the film's 1976 sequel 'Futureworld'.
At the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, the creators unveiled the first look of the season three trailer and said: "This season is a little less of a guessing game and more of an experience with the hosts finally getting to meet their makers."

Season three of ‘Westworld’ will air on HBO on March 15.
Plot
The trailer confirmed that the theme for the latest season will be 'The New World'. While the theme for the first season was 'The Maze', it was 'The Door' was season two. The new plot seems to revolve around the mysterious twists and turns in a futuristic city where robots have merged into human society. There are also speculations that a "World War II-styled" storyline could be in the pipeline.

Evan Rachel Wood
Wood plays the role of Dolores Abernathy, the oldest host in the park. The actress has been seen in movies in like 'The Wrestler' (2008), 'Whatever Works' (2009) and 'The Ides of March' (2011). She also played the daughter of Mildred Pierce in the HBO miniseries 'Mildred Pierce' (2011), for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe and Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Thandie Newton
The actress, who essays the role of Maeve Millay, was also seen as DCI Roz Huntley in the BBC drama 'Line of Duty', which earned her a nomination for the British Academy Television Award for Best Actress.
Other actors in the cast include Jeffrey Wright as Bernard Lowe, James Marsden as Teddy Flood, Tessa Thompson as Charlotte Hale, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal as Armistice, Luke Hemsworth as Ashley Stubbs, Rodrigo Santoro as Hector Escaton, Angela Sarafyan as Clementine Pennyfeather, Shannon Woodward as Elsie Hughes, Ed Harris as the Man in Black, Anthony Hopkins as Robert Ford and Aaron Paul as Caleb.
Actors Lena Waithe, Vincent Cassel, Kid Cudi, and Marshawn Lynch are all set to join the series in its third season in undisclosed roles.

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy together created the sci-fi television series 'Westworld' based on the film of the same name by Michael Crichton.
Jonathan has collaborated on several films with his brother, director Christopher Nolan. Did you know that for the neo-noir thriller film 'Memento' (2012), Christopher adapted Jonathan's short story 'Memento Mori'? The siblings have together co-written films like 'The Prestige' (2006), 'The Dark Knight' (2008), 'The Dark Knight Rises' (2012) and 'Interstellar' (2014). Meanwhile, Joy has previously written television series like 'Burn Notice' and 'Pushing Daisies'.
Nolan and Joy also serve as executive producers, along with J. J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk. The series is jointly produced by HBO Entertainment, Kilter Films, Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

The official Twitter account of 'Westworld’ released a dark piece of artwork on February 12. The poster shows a neomodern pink cityscape against which a host (that’s what the androids in the series are referred to as) is kneeling. An ominous quote above the photo announces: “Free will is not free.”The line, in context of the show’s storyline (of the hosts achieving sentience and consciences) and the show’s philosophy, posits an interesting question: Are the hosts -- including Dolores, Maeve, and others, who have broken the shackles of their bondage and escaped, really free?

With the song 'We'll Meet Again' by Vera Lynn in the background, the caption of the 2.51-minute clip reads: "We all have a role to play."
