It has been about five years since the last 30 Rock episode aired on television. But fans of the show were in for a huge surprise at the 70th Annual Writers Guild Awards in NYC at the Edison Ballroom.
Creator and writer of the hit-NBC sitcom, Tina Fey, caught up with her famous cast, including Tracy Morgan at the awards, and lefts millions of fans bedazzled. Tracy Morgan and Rachel Dratch presented Fey and co-producer Robert Carlock with the Herb Sargent Award for Comedy Excellence on Sunday night.
“We are honored to accept the Herb Sargent Award for Comedy Excellence,” Fey and Carlock told Variety. “This is particularly meaningful for us as Herb created Weekend Update, which is where we first worked together in the late ’90s. Like Herb, Tina grew up in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. And, like Robert, Herb was a Caucasian male, which used to be cool.”
As soon as the news of the cast and crew of 30 Rock reuniting hit the news, fans went berserk, with a whole lot talking about Fey's WGA award win and the cast and crew's reunion photos. Fey has been nominated for 17 Writers Guild Awards to date, with Carlock following close behind at 11.
Fey and Carlock have been working with each other since the days of 30 Rock. The duo is currently co-creating the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and are the executive producers of NBC's Great News.
