For many weeks now, rumors have been swirling around the cancellation of hit Bravo TV show, Real Housewives of New Jersey. Radar Online reported the show was on the chopping block with Bravo executives threatening to get the "show out of the gutter".
Even as Theresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, Dolores Catania and Margaret Josephs stare at the breadline, execs have asked the ladies to speak fondly of the show. “The producers have ordered all the ladies to speak positively about the show,” an insider said.
The previous season has been especially bad, with unnecessary fights and over-the-top drama.
“All of the fighting and legal threats this season were too much. Ratings were down, no one was interested in the dirty drama,” a source revealed. The pressure of changing the course of the show solely rests on its stars, and there are feeling the strain.
Meanwhile, production for the new season has been delayed and taping has not yet started. “Network execs told the ladies that they had to get the show ‘out of the gutter’ or else it was going to be canceled,” the insider said.
The showrunners are also looking to hire a new housewife who will help improve the ratings after Siggy Flicker quit. “A new woman was test-filming with the ladies, like a try-out, but she didn’t work,” the insider said. ”They have tried out a few women, but none of them are working. Production is completely held up.”
The producers have also not set a premiere date for the new season, which was supposed to premiere on February 1, 2018 – and have warned the RHoNJ stars that they could hold up the series for as long as they want. Despite these troubles behind the scenes, the ladies have been asked not to say anything ill about the show.
The delay in production and possible cancellation affects all the ladies, but according to Radar Online, Theresa is going to be most affected. “Teresa depends on the paycheck. She has four girls to support and a lifestyle to lead that is expensive. She has to start filming and get paid,” the insider said.
We sure hope the troubling times pass soon, and the ladies are able to make their way back to our TV screens. The fans sure seem to want them back:
Meanwhile, some others have some opinions on how to save it:
