The drama continues between Arie Luyendyk Jr. and The Bachelor. While the internet is still reeling from the shock of their infamous episode where he dumps Becca Kufrin on television and professes his love for runner-up Lauren Burnham, Arie is now revealing the real reason why Becca put up with it, according to Entertainment Weekly.
He reportedly said that she gained an advantage because of the breakup.
"I wanted her that opportunity, honestly, I wanted her that opportunity to be the potential Bachelorette."
Becca was announced as the new Bachelorette for the next season, but her heartache appeared very real. Read the story here.
"I hope I gave her that closure. I’m very happy for her. I’m happy that she’s going to be able to find her true love through the show," he added.
He also spoke about his actions, though there was no apology.
"I really wanted everyone to know that this was on me. This was my fault, and I felt like filming that would let people know that, that if there were any questions on the breakup, that those would be squashed if they saw the breakup," he said on Good Morning America.
He also confessed how happy he was with Lauren.
"This ending obviously wasn’t perfect, and I know it’s difficult for a lot of people to swallow, but I’m happy, and it took a long, hard road to get here and I’m really solid in my relationship. We’ve been together since January and it’s going really well."
