Patrick Doyle, the Veronica Falls drummer and singer-songwriter behind Boys Forever, has died at the age of 32.
Following early reports of the artist’s death, the news broke on social media with the Boys Forever Facebook account confirmed the news, posting a statement which said “he was a dear son, brother, uncle and friend, and we loved him dearly”, reports The Independent.
Doyle was a founding member of the London band Veronica Falls, who released their self-titled debut album back in 2011. That record was followed in 2013 by ‘Waiting For Something to Happen’, the band’s last studio LP to date. Along with Veronica Falls, Doyle also made solo music under the monikers Boys Forever and Basic Plumbing. He also played with the likes of Sexy Kids and The Royal We.
The above mentioned Facebook post requested that fans who wish to pay tribute to Doyle could do so by donating to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, “who were an invaluable support for Patrick”.
While the cause of his death has not yet been revealed, tributes for the deceased musician were quick to pour in on social media. Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos was among those to pay tribute, tweeting:
Doyle’s Veronica Falls bandmate Marion Herbain wrote on Instagram, “Everything hurts and it’s been hard finding the right words while dealing with feelings ranging from complete heartbreak to remorse. It hasn’t fully sunk in yet, but I’m glad I got to spend some of the best years of my life by your side, as a bandmate and a friend.”
