Radiohead announce surprise 2018 North America tour

The announcement comes as a big surprise as guitarist Ed O'Brien had previously cautioned fans that the only tour for 2018 would be limited to South America.

Radiohead have announced a series of North American live dates scheduled for this coming summer.

Following a tour of South America in April, the band will then head to the US and Canada from July through to August for a 16-date outing which includes multiple nights at New York’s Madison Square Garden; Montreal’s Belle Centre; Toronto’s Air Canada Centre; Boston’s TD Garden; and Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, with the tour kicking off at Chicago’s United Center on July 7.

A limited number of W.A.S.T.E. pre-sale tickets will be available beginning today (February 21). The general sales of the tickets will start on Friday, February 23, and Saturday, February 24. You can check out Radiohead’s website for more information.

Today’s announcement comes as a big surprise as guitarist Ed O’Brien previous told fans that the band’s touring in 2018 would be limited to a previously announced tour of South America only. Which is understandable because members of Radiohead have been working on big solo projects off late:

Johnny Greenwood recently scored films for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread — for which he has secured an Oscar nomination and also confirmed that he will be showing up for the Academy Awards ceremony come March 5. He has also scored the forthcoming film Lynne Ramsay's You Were Never Really Here starring Joaquin Phoenix.

Meanwhile, frontman Thom Yorke has also been busy, working on a film score of his own for a remake of the horror cult classic Suspiria and O’Brien is due for a 2018 release of his debut solo album.
