Donald Glover announces Childish Gambino tour dates with Rae Sremmurd

It looks like yesterday, March 5 was a big day for music lovers. A host of artists and bands released tour dates, including the likes of Avenged Sevenfold, Slayer, Grizzly Bear, Robert Plant, Deerhunter and more. There was even a brief moment when Beyonce's Facebook page suggested a joint tour with Jay-Z before disappearing suddenly.

Adding to the big list of tour announcements is Donald Glover. The modern renaissance man will head out on the road to perform a series of concerts as his hip-hop alter ego, Childish Gambino.

Glover has spent the last few months cooped up on production sets filming movies including Disney’s Han Solo anthology film and live-action remake of The Lion King in addition to the second season of his acclaimed FX series, Atlanta. But come September, Glover will finally be out on his first full tour in support of 2016 album ‘Awaken, My Love!’.

Kicking off September 6th in Atlanta, the 13-city tour includes massive gigs at Madison Square Garden in NYC, Chicago’s United Center, and the Forum in Los Angeles and wraps up on the 30th of the same month at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC. Accompanying Glover for each of the dates will be hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd. Pre-sale tickets are available starting today (March 6), with general tickets going on sale Friday (March 9).

In addition to the North American dates, Glover has also announced another edition of his “immersive virtual reality, multi-sensory concert experience” known as Pharos, which is set to take place from November 23rd-25th in Auckland, New Zealand.

Glover, who recently made news for comparing himself to Jesus, previously announced his intention to end Childish Gambino, explaining, “There’s nothing worst than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we’re like, ‘again?’” However, in January he struck a deal with RCA Records for a third album, which could very well be his last.
