Courtney Barnett announces new album 'Tell Me How You Really Feel and releases video for single: Watch

Courtney Barnett followed her 2015 critically acclaimed smash debut, 'Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit', with last year’s 'Lotta Sea Lice’ where she collaborated with former War on Drugs guitarist Kurt Vile. Now, the Aussie indie rocker has announced her proper sophomore record, 'Tell Me How You Really Feel', set for a May 18th release. So mark your calendars!

The upcoming Lp will be released via Mom + Pop, Marathon Artists, and Barnett’s own label, Milk! Records. Whereas 'Sometimes I Sit' introduced the world to Courtney's introspective side slathered with her typical deadpan, with witty, self-effacing lyrics, 'Tell Me How You Really Feel’ seems like Barnett is turning outwards to address the people around her.

It’s evident in the newly released lead single of the album, “Nameless, Faceless”. Judging by the lyric, the track is tapping into the relevance of the gender war that’s been the highlight of 2017. Its chorus paraphrases a famous Margaret Atwood quote: “Men are afraid that women will laugh at them; women are afraid that men will kill them.” Listen to the track and find the LP’s tracklist below.

Tell Me How You Really Feel Tracklist:
01. Hopefulessness
02. City Looks Pretty
03. Charity
04. Need a Little Time
05. Nameless, Faceless
06. I’m Not Your Mother, I’m Not Your Bitch
07. Crippling Self Doubt and a General Lack of Self-Confidence
08. Help Your Self
09. Walkin’ on Eggshells
10. Sunday Roast

There’s a new collaboration to look out for as well. Pixies’ former bassist Kim Deal contributes backing vocals to “Nameless, Faceless,” while both Kim and her sister, Kelley Deal appear on the album cut “Crippling Self Doubt and a General Lack of Self-Confidence.”

Already set to appear at festivals like Newport Folk, Forecastle in Louisville, and Atlanta’s Shaky Knees, Barnett has also revealed an intimate run of US tour dates set for May. Find her complete itinerary below. Tickets for all the headlining gigs are available now and come with a copy of the new record on the format of your choice (vinyl, CD, or digital). The album is also available for pre-release on Apple Music and also on her official website.
