Oscars 2018: Here's all you need to know about where, how and when to watch the 90th Academy Awards

All the Hollywood bigwigs are getting ready to show off their Oscar bests this weekend. The big event is all too close, as ballots get ready to be cast and carpets get cleaned to be rolled out for the stars to walk into the Dolby Theatre for the 90th Academy Awards.

Most of us, though, will not be able to attend the event of February 4th night in person. Instead, we will be watching the event from the comfort of our homes by ourselves or huddled with our friends playing drinking games.

No matter where you are watching it from you will get to see it live, thanks to ABC. While the main event will begin only by 8 pm (ET), networks like E! and EW will begin the fashion commentary and red-carpet interviews by 5 pm (ET). But, if you think isn't enough red carpet for one night, ET is planning a pre-red-carpet event which will start at 1 am before moving on to the annual 'Live From the Red Carpet' special.

Facebook's Watch online video service, on the other hand, is also being marketed as the “exclusive social platform” for Academy Awards coverage that will include red carpet highlights and exclusive backstage footage during the ceremony.

Meanwhile, The Oscars: All Access, which will start airing on ABC at 6.30 pm (ET), is promising "more backstage, behind the scenes things. More off-script interview things. More gold winners on the red-carpet things." It is even being promoted as the only “official” way to watch interviews with the nominees, presenters, and performers.

With ABC as the official cable partner for the Oscars, programming, the event will be live-streamed on abc.com and the ABC app as well. Meanwhile, online platforms such as YouTube TV, Sling TV, DirecTV, and PlayStation Vue will also stream the 90th Academy Awards, which will be hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel, live via ABC.

Ultimately, though Oscars is a celebration of films and what exactly is the point of watching the awards ceremony if you don't know the ones that are in the running this year? The time is a 'ticking and if you want to binge-watch all the nominated films before Sunday night you need to know who the nominees are.
