Melania Trump sported an all black attire as she was pictured exiting the White House on Saturday with husband, US President Donald Trump, as they made their way to Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
The couple’s weekend trip comes after Trump declared a national emergency, in order to raise funds for his border wall.
The 48-year-old wore a loose-fitting poncho-like outfit, which was slit right below the knee and had baggy sleeves.
Presumably, the turtleneck poncho is from Salvatore Ferragamo, a brand the first lady is fond of. Made of cashmere, the thick knitted coat is apparently worth 1,565 pounds ($2300), and which she paired with a pair of black stilettos and a dark brown Hermes handbag. A former model, she perfectly complemented the look with a pair of dark glasses and left her sleek hair down.
Melania went for some natural make-up to complement the outfit, putting on a bronzer and a nude matte lipstick. She walked holding hands with the president, as they both made their way across the South Lawn of the White House, towards the Marine One aircraft.
This is the first time the couple was spotted after Trump declared a national emergency. Trump’s decision for the Wall was like a warning of “an invasion of our country with drugs, with human traffickers, with all types of criminals and gangs”
“We don’t control our own border,” he said. “We’re going to confront the national security crisis on our southern border and we’re going to do it — one way or the other we have to do it.”
The declaration will enable him to use the funds meant for the military and counter-drug efforts to build the wall.
Democrats have challenged Trump’s method to extract the funds which would not need congressional approval to get the money. According to estimates, this emergency declaration could see him access $8 billion (around £6.2 billion) for border security.
