BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA: Following the unfortunate death of a Louisiana State University student, Madison Brooks, police have arrested four men, including a minor. Brooks died on January 15 after being dropped off on Burbank Drive near Pelican Lakes Parkway when a vehicle mowed her down.

As per an affidavit by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's office, the 19-year-old member of the Alpha Phi sorority was taken to a hospital after the accident but could not be saved. Further investigation also reportedly stated that the young woman was sexually assaulted by two of the four men before being left on the road and suffering the crash.

Who all have been arrested?

As per WAFB, Kaivon Deondre Washington, Everette Lee, Casen Carver, and an unnamed teenager have been taken into custody and charged after the suspected rape and death of Brooks. Reports said that 18-year-old Washington and the juvenile accused, who is 17, have been pressed with a third-degree rape charge respectively.

This charge has been brought against them since Brooks was in an intoxicated state at the time, believed to be not in a position to consent, and as per Louisiana law, when a victim’s “incapable of resisting or of understanding the nature of the act by reason of a stupor or abnormal condition of mind produced by an intoxicating agent or any cause and the offender knew or should have known of the victim’s incapacity.”

The two other suspects, 28-year-old Lee, and Casen Carver, 18, are reportedly facing principle to third-degree rape charges since they were not directly involved in the alleged rape of the young woman. The Advocate reported that three of the suspects turned themselves in Monday, January 23, while the juvenile surrendered on Sunday, January 22.

Kaivon Deondre Washington

Washington is reportedly from Louisiana’s Walker and is an alumnus of Walker High School. As per the arrest warrant, he told the cops that he was not feeling good after Brooks’ death. He said that he and the three men along with the woman left Reggie’s, a Tigerland bar, together. The accused claimed that the minor and Brooks got involved in the sexual act while inside the car.

He alleged that the two were touching each other's private parts in the backseat of the car but did not confirm if they had sex. Describing Brooks’ state at the time, he added, “liked when I tell you drunk, drunk, she was drunk.”

Casen Carver

Carver is reportedly a Denham Springs native and he also went to Walker High School. In his statement to cops, he reportedly said that Brooks was “very unstable on her feet, was not able to keep her balance, and was unable to speak clearly without slurring her words.” The suspect accused both Washington and the 17-year-old of asking for sex from the victim.

Citing the documents, WAFB reported that Carver confessed before the cops that the victim was not in the condition to give her consent and he “hated” the alleged assault. Eventually, Brooks was dropped off on Burbank Drive, where the fatal accident happened.

Everette Lee

Lee was the oldest among the four and is reportedly from Pine Grove. He is reportedly Washington’s uncle. As per reports, he did not rape Brooks but was in the car when the said incident happened.
