10 Must-visit beaches in the world, as ranked by travel experts

Canada's largest online traveling website launched its annual list of top 10 beaches in the world based on inputs and opinions of travel experts as well as bloggers. The list was also based on sheer untouched beauty, remoteness, sand, and water conditions and quality. Average days of sunshine, as well as average annual temperature, were also taken into consideration.  

These are the 10 most beautiful and pristine beaches to visit this summer, according to The Independent

#10 Trunk Bay, US Virgin Islands

This beach was donated to the National Park Service over five decades ago. It still is one of the best maintained and preserved according to Flight Network. The beach boasts of a 205 meter underwater snorkeling trail as well as silky sand and blue clean water. 

Michelle of blog Making Sense of Cents said,"This amazing beach in the US Virgin Islands offers spectacular snorkeling, extraordinary views, and so much more beauty that you have to see it to believe it." The beach is located on St. John in the United States Virgin Islands. 

#9 Hidden Beach, Mexico

Playa del Amor better known as the Hidden Beach is a feature of the Marieta Islands which located west of Mexico. The beach is only accessible via boat, swimming, or kayaking and is tucked away inside a cave with a big opening in the roof which allows just the right amount of sunlight to get through.

According to Flight Network, the roof of the cave was made when Mexican forces were participating in bombing practice in WWI. The Product Poet called this Hidden beach, "A true secret paradise invisible from the outside. Playa del Amor is filled with hidden water tunnels to explore for hours." 

#8 Hyams Beach, Australia

This beach is a seaside village in the City of Shoalhaven in New South Wales, Australia. It is known for its extremely white sand and crystal clear waters. According to Jemma York of Academy Travel and the Guinness Book of World Records, it is "the whitest sand I’ve ever seen against a beautiful backdrop." 

Until the 2016 consensus, the total population of the island was a mere 112. The beach is a three-hour drive from Sydney. It is a great beach for relaxing, surfing, and kayaking.

The Playa Paraiso beach in Mexico is a great beach destination for eager travelers. It is known for its stunning white sand as well as bright teal waters which make the scenery very picturesque. The waters are calm and inviting with a ton of coral reefs waiting to be explored.

This place is close to the perfect getaway and it receives almost 290 annual days of sunlight and has a superb temperature of 20°C while the water is a consistent 21°C. The weather is never too hot or too cold and remains pleasurable for a major part of the year. 

#6 Baia Dos Porcos, Brazil

Baia Dos Porcos is referred to as the 'Pigs Bay'. This beach is formed of stones and has very little sand. People who are visiting this beach will have to depend on maneuvering through these rock and stone formations to walk about on the beach. The trek is little difficult but is truly worth the effort. 

Marisa Megan of blog Traveling With Boys said,"The most picturesque beach you can imagine, Baia Dos Porcos is inundated with the bluest of turquoise waters and vividly colored wildlife hidden behind lofty cliffs." 

#5 Navagio Beach, Greece

The Navagio Beach is located on the coast of Zakynthos in the Ionian Islands of Greece. The beach was originally called Agios Georgios. The Navagio beach is often referred to as Shipwreck beach or Smuggler's Cove. Navagio is said to be the home of a famous shipwreck called Panagiotis.

Visitors come from all corners of the world to grab photos of the famous shipwreck, called Panagiotis. The gorgeous blue water is just stunning in contrast to the white cliffs and sand."

This is almost five kilometers of endless coastline which is seemingly pink in color. It is a dreamy paradise-like beach which boasts of an off-shore coral reef and has a slightly-tinted sand. This is due to bright red and pink shells of microscopic Foraminifera insects.

#3 Anse Lazio, Seychelles

The Anse Lazio beach is situated in the Northwest region of the Praslin Island, Seychelles. Lonely Planet has named it as one of the best beaches on Praslin. It boasts of soft, golden sands and has crystal clear water. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and the temperature of water touches an average of 27°C.

According to The Blonde Abroad's Kiersten," the white sand, emerald waters, and lush jungle are pure paradise." The beach is bordered by large granite boulders. However, unlike other beaches in Seychelles, Anse Lazio is not protected or surrounded by a coral reef.

#2 Whitehaven Beach, Australia

This beach literally deserves a 10/10 in terms of all aspects. The beach boasts of super white sand as well as seven kilometers of coastline. The best way to see the beach would be via a helicopter or seaplane. Sharron Livingston of The Travel Magazine said," Whitehaven Beach has oh-so-white sands, deepest green rainforests, and crystalline waters."

"It’s a wild island, part of the Great Barrier Reef, and is by far the most beautiful location to experience." Whitehaven is said to be made of 98 percent pure white silica.

This iconic beach and stretch of sand comes in at number one due to its colorful barrier reef, rock-free sand as well as a total of 319 days of sunlight per year. 

Travel editor Kelly Stilwell said," Soft white sand and unbelievably clear blue water make Grace Bay the beach traveler’s dream location."
