The one thing Hollywood A-lister Angelina Jolie is known for, other than her pouty lips, her impeccable bone structure, and her philanthropy, is her classic old Hollywood style. No one wears a black sweeping gown like her and there isn't anyone in Hollywood who has come even close to contesting rocking the slit dress crown.
Jolie knows what works for her and there ain't no shame in repeating what does. They say don't wear a dress twice - but Jolie has broken that norm over and over again because she is just badass like that.
Take a look at the 10 times Jolie has gone with the black floor-length gown and her classic winged eyes and left the world in awe:
1. BAFTA 2018
Most recently, she went with a black Ralph & Russo gown and a pair of simple black pumps. She wore her hair in a clean bun and opted for classic winged smokey eyes with glossy nude lips. She wore diamond chandelier earrings and a diamond ring on her finger and added a pop of color with bright red nails.
2. Oscars 2012
For the 2012 Oscars, Jolie picked an Atelier Versace gown with a daring slit. This floor length gown was angled at her bosom and was sleeveless. She wore her then caramel tresses down in curls at the bottom and paired an all-out smokey eye with a killer red lippie. She picked peep-toe pumps to bring the whole ensemble together and accessorized with a diamond ring and nothing else.
3. Oscars 2009
This time she wore a floor-length Elie Saab gown with sheer fabric covering the thigh-high slit. It was a tube style dress with a sweetheart neckline and she paired it with green crystal drop earrings and a matching ring. Her hair was kept neat, away from her face in a half up hairdo. She kept her makeup almost the same as the 2018 look, except this time she went with actual eyeliner instead of a smokey eye.
4. At the Curious Case of Benjamin Button premiere, 2008
At one of the movie premieres back in 2008, she was seen wearing a strapless black number. The gown had a tiny train and was A line in structure. She wore it with a small black and gold clutch of a similar fabric. She once again went with a winged liner and nude glossy lips and a pair of drop earrings. Hair tied in a bun, she looked radiant during the movie premiere.
5. Maleficent premiere, 2014
Her fantasy film Maleficent did amazingly well worldwide and her dress at this 2014 event was a reflection of her character in the movie. She looked like the true empress that she plays in the movie in this silk Atelier Versace gown. The silk, that almost looks like rubber was paired with a pair of spiky golden cuffs on her forearm. She matched it with black nails and.. you guessed it - a neat bun, winged eyeliner, and glossy nude lips.
6.Cannes Film Festival, 2011
Her 2011 Cannes look was very similar to her 2009 Oscar look. She wore an Atelier Versace creation - a floor length strapless gown with a high slit and frill detailing. Her dark brown hair was down past her shoulder with a few waves and curls. She brought the outfit together with a golden bangle, on one hand, a pair of black peep-toes. Her make up was kept classic Hollywood - smokey eyes along with glossy nude lips. This time she went with a french manicure and a little flush of color on her cheeks.
7.Golden Globe Awards 2018
She went with Atelier Versace, yet again. This time it was a sheer detailed chiffon gown with fur-lined bell sleeves. She wore her hair up in a bun, giving a clear view of her diamond drop earrings, as a few locks of hair fell in front framing her face. Her make up was kept simple - with winged smokey eyes and a glossy nude lip.
8. Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Jolie seems to have a special spot for Versace. She wore a leather almost fishtail cut dress that hugged her long legs all the way to her knees. This cleavage-baring halter neck number saw Jolie posing with a sexy pushed back mane and a pair of diamond studs. She finished off the look with some eyeliner and the evergreen nude lippie.
9. SAG Awards 2012
She wore a slinky Jenny Packham number with some cool golden-brass boxy bracelet and thick golden and black hoops. She wore her hair combed back with a dark brown smokey eye and nude lips. She also wore a matching boxy ring on her finger and a pair of black peep-toes to finish off the look.
10. Japan premiere of Salt, 2010
At the Japanese premiere of her film Salt, she wore a black floor-length high neck gown with wispy sleeves and a very risque slit. The Atelier Versace gown was paired with matching peep-toes and an emerald studs and a ring. She wore her hair in a pretty bun with thick fringes in the front. Her make up, yet again, was perfectly done smokey eyes and a nude lip color.
