"After much thought and consideration we have mutually decided to separate as a couple," they said in their joint statement on Tuesday (March 6). "We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives. The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward."
A source close to the magazine said that the couple had separated for a couple of months but it is now that they decided to come forward and announce their separation. Usher and Grace have always been low-key about their relationship.
Rumors about them possibly being married started surfacing back in 2015 when the singer was spotted with a gold band on his wedding finger while out and about in LA. Multiple sources later confirmed that Usher indeed had proposed to Grace.
The couple had been dating since 2009, soon after Usher split from his first wife Tameka Foster, with whom he shares 10-year-old son Usher Raymond V and 9-year-old son Naviyd Ely. Grace, who is also Usher's manager has always been by him and the singer has not failed to mention it in various interviews.
In an interview with People, Usher told about Grace, "I have an incredible partner and manager. She has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and my career." Just two years ago Usher also spoke about how he loved spending time with his family and recalled a time which he spent with Grace and his two kids from his first wife.
"I went on an air balloon trip with about 15 people … both my boys were up there with me, my wife was up there with me," he recalled about their trip to Italy. "The whole family was up there. It was cool to just have that little moment away."
The news about Usher and Grace's split comes days after the 'My Boo!' singer listed their Sunset Strip estate on the market. According to TMZ, the singer's house which is 4,261 square foot and has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms were listed for sale two weeks before the couple decided to announce their split.
The cost put up for the house is $4.2 million. At the same time, the couple has another house in Georgia which also happens to be another house that the pair is trying to sell. The couple has listed their 7 bedrooms, 10 bathroom mansion for $1.699 million.
