Kate Middleton and Princess Eugenie set Prince Harry up on blind dates before he met Meghan Markle

Kate Middleton and Princess Eugenie reportedly tried to play an active part in Prince Harry's love life, setting him up on blind dates when he was a bachelor.

Royal correspondent Kate Nicholl released a tell-all book on Prince Harry's life titled 'Harry: Life, Loss, and Love,' that made some fascinating revelations about the role his sister-in-law, Duchess Kate Middleton, played in his love life, claiming that the Duchess and his cousin Princess Eugenie set him up on blind dates after his relationships with Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas failed to materialize in marriage.

Nicholl wrote, "Harry wasn't giving up, even going on blind dates organized by Kate and his cousin Princess Eugenie, who had a good track record when it came to setting Harry up," following his return to bachelor status after his failed relationships, E! reported. However, neither Kate nor Eugenie set Harry up with his bride-to-be Meghan.

Harry had been in a secret relationship with British model Sarah Ann Macklin, rumored to be one of the women either Kate or Eugenie set him up with, but their romance fizzled out. That was when Violet von Westenholz, Harry's childhood friend, stepped in and gave him Meghan's phone number in July 2016. They had two dates that went swimmingly well and ended up on a trip to Botswana.

By October 2017, reports about the couple had emerged, and Meghan and Harry hid from the paparazzi in Meghan's friend Jessica Mulroney's house, as they had been together at Meghan's Toronto house at the time. According to Nicholl, 2017 was the year that Meghan made herself comfortable in Nottingham Cottage, keeping her clothes in Harry's closet, and bringing her cookbooks, flowers, and scented candles into his home.

Nicholl revealed that Meghan's healthy lifestyle began to influence Harry's habits, leading him to work out more often as well as cut back on his drinking and smoking. They spent nights together, cooking and watching television, with Netflix show 'The Crown' that documents the reign of Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, interestingly being on their list.

After the two returned to London from a trip to Norway, Harry finally introduced Meghan to his sister-in-law who had formerly played matchmaker in his life, Kate. Prince George and Princess Charlotte were reportedly a part of that meeting in Prince William and Kate's apartment. Nicholl revealed, "Harry wanted Kate to approve of Meghan, and because they were the same age and came from "normal" rather than royal backgrounds, he hoped that they would forge a close friendship."

The two women may have hit it off, as Meghan was a last-minute addition to Pippa Middleton's wedding guest list in May 2017 courtesy of Kate, who invited the soon-to-be-royal "knowing that Meghan was in the UK and Harry wanted to take her as his date."

On May 19, six months after they got engaged, Harry and Meghan will be wed at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. According to Nicholl, the reason the wedding has been hastened is because Harry wanted his 96-year-old grandfather, Prince Phillip, to be able to attend the nuptials. She wrote, "One of the reasons Harry wanted to wed sooner than later was so that the Duke could see him married while he was still in good health."
