Ant McPartlin arrested for drinking and driving after causing terrifying accident in South London

The comedian is definitely going through some trying times. But that is no excuse to be drinking and driving. The accident could have been fatal.

Ant McPartlin has been arrested on charges of drunken driving. The television show host, comedy figure and one-half of the comedic duo Ant and Dec crashed into two cars on Sunday afternoon, leading to the injury of a three-year-old child.

The little girl was taken to the hospital to treat her injuries, while Ant was given a breathalyzer test, which he failed. The television presenter was promptly arrested by the police for losing control of his Mini in Richmond, south London.

Ant lost control of his Mini at a roundabout. The car veered out-of-control to the opposite side of the road and collided with a green Mini. A young couple and their daughter were in the green Mini when Ant's car smashed into it.

Multiple people were witness to the accident and had confirmed reports of the television presenter being arrested for his actions.

Ant has had a troublesome few months. The host checked himself into rehab following his painkiller addiction. Ant also going through a tough divorce with his wife Lisa Armstrong, which is supposedly costing him £30 million of his estimated £60 million fortune. 

People were shocked to hear of the crash and immediately expressed their concern for the comedy host.

 A lot of Ant's fans came to his defense given the rough year he's had. 

 While some wanted him to be held accountable for his actions. 

Media personality Katie Hopkins also expressed her anger toward Ant's actions. 

Katie also criticised the media for showing Ant in a more sympathetic light. 

Just a few hours before the accident, Ant was hosting his ITV show, 'Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway' with co-host Declan Donnelly.
