Paris Hilton, who had slid into oblivion over the last few years, was trending all over the internet in the last couple of days. Reason? She is engaged to the love of her life and has a huge-ass ring to prove it as well.
Paris' fiancé Chris Zylka proposed to her at one of the most romantic locations ever, and now we know the details of the proposal and the gorgeous ring, thanks to one Michael Greene's interaction with People. They were on a ski trip in Aspen, Colorado, over the weekend before New Year's Eve, and Chris decided to pop the question while they were surrounded by the beauty of snowy mountains.
Beyond the infinite joy of being engaged to the "love of [her] life and best friend," Paris was also reportedly mind blown by the ring that Chris proposed to her with. Paris said that the ring, which has caught the attention of many, was the "most beautiful ring" she had ever seen.
Her exact words were: “The ring was so gorgeous and sparkling. I was shaking as I put it on. It is the most beautiful ring that I have ever seen!” People on Twitterverse also got creative after seeing the size of the huge rock:
Obviously, there is a beautiful story behind the enormous ring, starting with the fact that it costs a whopping $2 million. The pear-shaped 20-carat diamond rests on a platinum split shank halo band and was created by Michael Greene, a diamond expert and celebrity jeweler.
It is a no-brainer that Chris would have splurged a huge amount on the ring. After all, we are speaking of the heiress to the Hilton Hotels fortune. Even her dogs have a private mini-mansion. But the price tag is not the only thing that led Chris to finalize the ring.
Designer Michael tells People, “Paris at one point in time told Chris she really loved her mother’s pear-shaped diamond, and when Chris came to me that was his request." He further added, “The pear-shaped really jumped out for him and ultimately for her. He did some fishing, but in the end, it was all him. He’s a smart guy and hangs out a lot with the family, and I think she realized how much she liked her mom’s ring.”
Chris seems to have done the whole proposal thing the old-fashioned way. From retaining the essence of Paris' mother's engagement ring to asking her dad's permission for her hand in marriage. And to top it all off, he managed to surprise his "princess."
Michael said, "Paris was not involved. Chris did it all. He wanted to do everything so perfectly. He wants the best thing for his princess. And he did all the right things." The designer further added, "He told me he had to set up a time to meet up with Paris’ father to ask for her hand in marriage. He did the whole thing. All the traditions.”
Michael also explains how his team had to whip up the ring in two days, even though it would take an average of three weeks normally. "He wanted it before Aspen because if the opportunity was there, which it was, he wanted to ask Paris in Aspen,” he said.
“When he came to pick it up and opened up the box he literally started shaking. He said, 'I can’t stop shaking.' It was like taking a good size man and bringing him down to a boy size giggle. He’s a super nice guy," Michael further let in.
Clearly, the painstaking efforts of Chris and Michael have paid off, and Paris is now a happily engaged woman. Here is wishing the young couple a long and happy life together.
