Dennis Quaid, 65, gets engaged to girlfriend Laura Savoie who is 39 years younger than him, says he waited for 'perfect sunset' to tell her
Dennis Quaid, 65, is now officially engaged to his 26-year-old girlfriend Laura Savoie after dating each other for several months. “I had the ring in my pocket”, Quaid told Extra over the weekend. “It has been kind of a month-and-a-half plan — I wanted it to be private.”
According to the 'Parent Trap' actor, he had long waited for the perfect sunset to pop the question to his stunning lover. “She was actually taking a selfie of us, and I put the ring in front and said, ‘Will you marry me?’ And then she fell down", said Quaid.
“It happened on the very northernmost point of Oahu, at Turtle Bay”, he continued. “It was kind of spontaneous. It was very much a surprise.”
According to Fox News, the couple was first spotted together in May after a dinner at Craig's in West Hollywood. Quaid, who has three children, was previously linked to 32-year-old Santa Auzina. The pair was reportedly last spotted together in December.
Savoie graduated as valedictorian from Pepperdine University, according to People. She reportedly dated actor Jeremy Piven when she was still at the school.
Savoie's private Instagram account contains several pictures with Quaid, as per Us Weekly. One of the photos reportedly has Savoie kissing Quaid with a caption reading, "Never been happier."
According to People, Savoie has a master's degree from the University of Notre Dame and is currently doing a Ph.D. in accounting at the University of Texas in Austin, where she is set to graduate in 2021.
Previously, Quaid was married to Kimberly Buffington from 2004 until 2016. Prior to that, he was married to actresses P.J. Soles from 1978-1983 and Meg Ryan from 1991-2001.
