PUBLISHED MAY 4, 2019

Showtime has released a new trailer for its upcoming drama 'City on a Hill' - an original set in Boston, that features Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge. The show premieres mid-June and focuses on the story of an assistant district attorney and a seasoned FBI veteran, as the two come together to solve the crimes of their city.

Created and executive produced by Chuck MacLean, the highly anticipated series will also star big names like Jonathan Tucker of 'Kingdom,' Mark O’Brien of 'Halt and Catch Fire', and Lauren E. Banks of 'Instinct.'

Plot:

Bacon plays the role of the corrupt FBI cop Jackie Rhodes, while Hodge joins him as the district attorney Decourcy Ward. Set in 1990, the story is a fictional account of what was called the 'Boston Miracle.'

The premise of the story will be the district attorney and corrupt agent trying to come together to make the city a safer place as they meander through the murky waters of the violence prevalent in the Boston criminal underworld. Don't let the ensemble cast distract you from the serious theme of the show as the two polar opposite lead character put up infectious chemistry on screen - something fans can definitely watch out for once the 10-episode first season arrives at Showtime.

Release date:

'City on a Hill' premieres on Sunday, June 16.

Creator:

The show was an original idea by Ben Affleck, and Chuck Maclean - both of whom serve as executive producers on the show. Matt Damon also serves as executive producer, and from both the trailers released so far it's been established that this is no flashy drama series, as it takes us back to the grave essence of shows like 'Homicide: Life on the Streets', and 'The Wire.'

Cast:

His other popular works include the legal drama 'A Few Good Men' (1992), the historical docudrama 'Apollo 13' (1995), and the mystery drama 'Mystic River' (2003).

Some of his most widely acclaimed works happen to be some dark, sinister roles such as the sadistic guard in 'Sleepers' (1996) and the disturbing former child abuser in 'The Woodsman' (2004.)

Alongside Bacon and Hodge, the series will also star Jonathan Tucker, Mark O’Brien, Lauren E. Banks, Amanda Clayton, Jere Shea, Kevin Chapman, and Jill Hennessey.

Trailer:

So far, two trailers have been released for the upcoming Showtime drama. The first one that introduced us to the plot and setting came out three months ago on January 31. The most recent one came out May 3 and shows Bacon and Hodge's characters sporting suave, no-nonsense looks, setting the perfect premise for the story.

Filled with snippets of corrupt officers indulging in substance abuse very openly in their day jobs, and laden with blood and violence, the trailer shows the two leads and their teams gearing up to primarily take on a family of armored car robbers from Charlestown. The tension and thrill of the plot is the very case itself as it grows to involve, and ultimately overthrow, the entire criminal justice system of Boston.

Where to watch:

'City on a Hill' will be available on Showtime.

If you like this, you'll also like:

'The Wire', 'Line of Duty', 'Luther' and 'Law and Order.'
