At 69, Richard Gere is expecting his first child with Alejandra Silva, and he's even got the Dalai Lama's blessing

Richard Gere:According to most reports, the couple is said to have known each other for over a decade, until they officially began dating in 2014 & reportedly got married in April.

'Pretty Woman' actor Richard Gere must be on cloud nine at the moment! At the age of 69, the Hollywood star is all set to become a father again as his activist wife Alejandra Silva shared the joyous news with the most adorable picture on social media.

“A very special moment just a few minutes ago," 35-year-old Silva captioned the photo, in which spiritual leader Dalai Lama is seen blessing the couple's unborn child, breaking the news of her pregnancy to the world. This would be Gere and Silva's first baby, although both of them share children from their previous marriages. While the 'Unfaithful' actor shares son 18-year-old Homer with ex-wife Carey Lowell, Silva is mother to son Albert from a previous relationship with Govind Friedland.

"Getting blessings for our precious to come .. we could not say it before telling HH Dalai Lama," the Spanish businesswoman added alongside the Instagram photo taken in Rotterdam, Netherlands, finally confirming the baby rumors that have been doing the rounds for some time now. The chatter, however, had begun in August itself after Spanish outlet ABC had reported the pregnancy news.

For Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva, the baby news comes after quite a long time. According to most celebrity news sites, the couple is said to have known each other for over a decade, until they officially began dating in 2014. Following three years of courtship, however, the pair is believed to have secretly tied the knot on April 23 in a civil ceremony.

“I was a little lost, without light, and knowing him gave meaning to my life. It was feeling that someone was reaching out and showing me my true path," the Spanish personality had said in the past about Gere, who too echoed the emotions saying, "I have found the quiet and happy life that I have always sought."

In 2015, though, the Hollywood couple was spotted enjoying a getaway in the beaches of Taormina, Sicily. Just one amidst many of their romantic vacations, the couple's outings are almost always breathtaking as reflected in the picture posts shared on social media.
