After a recent Weverse interview was published, BTS ARMY is flooding the social media sites calling BTS’ rapper Suga a musical prodigy and more. Here’s why.

BTS Suga, also known by his rapper name, Agust D is back after his short hiatus due to shoulder surgery to talk about all things music and global music domination of Grammy-nominated Kpop supergroup BTS in a Weverse interview where the ‘Daechwita’ rapper revealed the making process for ‘BE’ and how he wrote Billboard Hot 100 charting ‘Telepathy’ under 30 minutes. The surprising revelation is making the BTS ARMY gush over the musical prodigy overwhelmingly more, calling him a ‘Musical genius’.

Suga of BTS attends the 2019 Billboard Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 01, 2019, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Did he actually write ‘Telepathy’ in 30 minutes?

Speaking about the latest album of Billboard Hot 100 topper group, ‘BE’, Suga said, “I tried a melody for the first time this year (2020), and as I started knowing the fun of music, it opened a lot of new doors for me. So it was kind of easy working on it. I just played a beat and wrote from the beginning until the end. Done. I wrote it in just 30 minutes.” The rapper quipped, “The song almost wrote itself. The trends of pop and hip-hop these days cross boundaries between vocals and rap. I like this trend.”

Yoongi, known for his fierce verse and a unique flow of rap in his produced tracks further stated, “When you're rapping, you just think of the rhythm, so it’s like simply putting on a melody to a rhythm. To define which comes first, I think melody adds to it while writing the rap.”

In the candid interview, Yoongi also shed light on the rapper’s personal growth in music, what does he think about BTS’ global domination, BTS’ ‘fake Suga’ in MAMA stage and the K-Pop rapper’s new dreams after getting the Grammy nod this year with ‘Dynamite’, something that Suga has aimed to achieve for long now.

“When we got nominated for the Grammy Awards, we thought, ‘Is this real?’ (Laughs) Of course, we were delighted, but it didn’t make us think, ‘We're singers nominated for the Grammy.’ If you're nominated, you're nominated, and if you get the award, you get the award. You don't get shaken by that. I know it's a great award and would be so grateful if we receive it, but we know that nothing is possible without the tremendous support of our fans’ August D admitted. On getting Billboard Hot 100 number one, the 27-year rapper said, “I think it's because we don’t give it a big deal about success. For example, it's incredible to be ranked first on the Billboards, but there’s also this sense of, “Okay, and?”

New dreams

The musical prodigy also talked about their dreams for the foreseen future and what’s next for the rapper. He said, “I'm eager to continue doing music. Since all performances were canceled due to Covid-19, I had a chance to talk to so many musicians in Korea. I talked with legendary singers as well as people who are my contemporaries. Talking with them once again made me realize that I love music so much. Because music is my profession, I can’t imagine myself not doing it. I'm grateful that there are still unvisited areas in the world of music.”

Yoongi added, “My goal is to continue doing music in any shape or form.” He added, “I think it evolved naturally. I've changed in personality this year (2020), as well as in terms of my interpretation and attitude toward life to the extent that I almost thought I've been rehearsing. How would it feel like if there were no stage to go to or anyone looking out for me? This thought made me realize the value of these things.”

Speaking about what inspires the musical genius, he said, “I was greatly motivated when I saw the concert of Na Hoon-a last Chuseok. I wondered how many musicians would actually be able to perform and write music for so long as he has. At that moment, it occurred to me that ‘I want to be like him’. He has passion and desire, and most of all, he is a superstar.” He went on saying, “I have this great respect toward Cho Yong-pil. He takes the best sound there is and reinterprets it into his own. I think that’s something I want to emulate and keep changing and evolving so that I can continue doing music for decades to come.”

‘Life Goes On’

Acknowledging the growth and the whirlwind journey of BTS’ worldwide success, Suga gushed, “A month and a half in the current times must seem like a lifetime for the fans when we're far apart. I feel the same. But I think that's proof that we worked hard for the past seven years and that the fans have been passionately reaching out to us. I'm striving to get to them as fast as I can, and I'm eager to go on stage. I'm going through this because I want to be better on stage in a better condition, so don't be sad, and please hang in there a little longer.”

What is the BTS ARMY saying?

After the Weverse interview was published, the BTS ARMY have been flooding the social media sites to swoon over the BTS’ rapper’s genius artistry. A fan posted, “THE FACT THAT MIN YOONGI WROTE TELEPATHY IN JUST 30 MINUTES??????!?!?!?!!? YOONGI IS A MUSIC GENIUS YOU CAN'T TELL ME OTHERWISE.” Another fan shared, “telepathy... the song i’m spiritually bound to... the song i listen to at least four times a day... started off as a forgotten draft... a forgotten draft that Yoongi only then worked on for 30 minutes before it was added to the album…” And added, “HE JUST A GENIUS BRO,,?? HE JUST CASUALLY WALKING AROUND BEING A LIVING LEGEND??? ALL THAT MUSICAL GENIUS JUST SITS THERE, CHILLING IN HIS NOGGIN,,,?? IM STARTING TO GET ANGRY!” A BTS ARMY posted, “Yoongi wrote Telepathy is 30 mins, Namjoon wrote respect in 30 mins, Jimin wrote Dis-ease’s bridge in 4 mins... you can’t tell me they weren’t born to do this.”
