The mother of three-year-old Alfie Lamb, who was crushed to death by an electric car seat, has reportedly been freed from prison despite serving less than half her sentence.

The 24-year-old hairdresser, Adrian Hoare, was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison this May for putting her son Alfie's life in jeopardy by placing him into the footwell of an Audi convertible. Her former boyfriend Stephen Waterson was sentenced to seven years and six months of imprisonment by a judge who described him as “cunning and manipulative”.

Hoare, in an interview with the Daily Mail, denied involvement in her son's death and blamed Waterson, the adopted son of former Tory minister Nigel, "entirely" for the incident. Waterson crushed little Alfie by reversing his car seat into the helpless toddler in February 2018 and Hoare just looked on.

The 24-year-old now says that she wants to "restart" her life after serving just five months of her prison sentence. She reportedly insisted to the outlet that she was a good mother to the late toddler.

"To me, he's the one that moved the chair," she said. "In my head, I blame him more for what's happened. I was trying to get him to move the chair. I couldn't have moved the chair myself. He should've been in a seat, but where Stephen had kicked off and we knew we weren't going to get him to calm down, we got in the car just to stop him having a go at us. I blame it entirely on Stephen. I wouldn't say it's me that caused it to happen."

Waterson, Hoare, and Alfie had gone for a shopping trip with friends in Sutton, South London, when Waterson began crushing Alfie with his reversible seat, saying he would "not be told what to do by a three-year-old". The pressure resulted in asphyxia and the toddler eventually died of a heart attack days later.

Although Hoare was cleared of manslaughter, a jury did find her guilty of child cruelty and assault. She had also admitted to perverting the course of justice by lying to the police.
