New York Representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez turned 30 on Sunday, October 13, and she spent the occasion in Denmark where she attended the C40 World Mayors Summit. The Democratic Congresswoman, who assumed office this January after winning the mid-term elections in 2018, was greeted on the occasion and among those who wished her are the three other members of the ‘Squad’. Ocasio-Cortez or “AOC” thanked everybody for the wishes on Twitter as she posted a video of her walking on steps across a pond. “Spending the day in Denmark after C40, enjoying this social democracy that treats healthcare & education as rights, zero-carbon as priority, & infrastructure as a key public good. Here's to another year of fighting for our future,” she added in her tweet.

Ayanna Pressley, the representative from Massachusetts and one of the Squad members, tweeted a number of photos of herself with “AOC” in the Congress and said: “So grateful you were born sister. Inspired by your truth telling, justice seeking, and love for the NY 14th. Fortunate to learn with you, laugh with you, pray with you, work with you. Wishing you a wonderful day filled with love & Riley get our girl that puppy already.”

Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib, the third member, said in her congratulatory tweet: “So blessed to be serving with you sis. You inspire me with your passion and commitment. Love you @AOC!”

Ilhan Omar, the representative from Minnesota who recently filed for divorce from her husband, also called “AOC” as “sis” in her tweet. She said: “Happiness of birthdays to you sis @AOC, it’s been an honor to serve with you in our fight for a more just world.”

Ocasio-Cortez, a self-declared "socialist", recently courted controversy after getting a hairdo for $300 in a salon in downtown Washington. She was mocked as the “Eva Peron of the US” after the late Argentinian first lady who had promoted socialist agenda but sported designer gowns and jewels. “AOC” was not one to keep silent either. She hit back at her critics saying Vice President Mike Pence spent “several thousand haircuts’ worth of public money on a visit to (Donald) Trump golf courses”. She also asked whether the Republicans cared about corruption as much as they did about women’s “cut & color”.
