An Alabama man who was previously charged with molesting a horse last year has been arrested again, this time for allegedly breaking into a couple's home while carrying on him a rubber sex toy and a taser. The 19-year-old, identified as Daniel Bennett, has been charged with attempted burglary stemming from an incident in a suburban area in the port city of Mobile.

According to a press release by the Mobile County Sheriff's Office obtained by WKRG, deputies from the office responded to reports of an attempted burglary at 9062 Matlock Road on Monday, February 4.

Marylin Wilcox, who has lived at the home with her husband for decades, said she was relaxing when she heard a commotion and saw someone coming in through the kitchen window. "I heard a noise, looked towards the window, and I saw a face. He was pulling the window up. I screamed for my husband and said to get his gun, somebody was trying to break in," she said.

But the suspect ran away before the pair could apprehend him. When deputies began canvassing the area, neighbors said the same man who had tried to break into the Wilcox residence had been knocking on their doors as well. He was also seen going down the street and going in and out of several yards.

They described him as "white, clean-shaven, dark hair and wearing a black jacket," and while continuing to search the area, deputies spotted a male who fit the description riding around on a bicycle. They identified him as Daniel James Bennett and arrested him after the Wilcox couple confirmed it was indeed he who tried to break into their home.

While arresting him, deputies found a large rubber sex toy with a tube attached to it, a taser and a pair of hair styling scissors on his person. He was charged with attempted burglary in the second-degree and booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail.

The Daily Mail reported that in January 2018, Bennett was charged with misdemeanor bestiality for allegedly molesting a 20-year-old horse named Polly. Polly's owner, Francine Janes, claimed she found the teen in her barn next to the horse, and that her husband held him at gunpoint until authorities arrived.

He is said to have denied the charges and claimed he just "wanted to pet the horse". It is unclear if he was convicted on the bestiality charge or the other charges of possession of burglar's tools and second-degree criminal trespassing. Lagniappe Weekly theorized that there was no record of the incident in the state’s online judicial filing system because he was 18 at the time and would have been eligible for a youthful offender status.
