LOWCOUNTRY, SOUTH CAROLINA: Lachune Boyd, a singer and voice coach with over 130,000 TikTok fans, recently appeared on 'America's Got Talent'. Let's learn more about the singer before she hits the stage at the ABC talent competition on June 27.

The auditions for the new season of 'AGT' continue. On May 30, the show returned with its usual premise - entertainers compete for a $1 million reward. This season's celebrity judges include Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara, in addition to presenter Terry Crews. El Invertebrado, a pole dancer and contortionist, startled the judges before wowing them with his dancing skills and body-bending abilities on last week's program. This week, Lachune will dazzle the judges with her powerful vocals.

Who is Lachune Boyd?

Lachune, who was born and raised in the Deep South, discovered her passion for music in the pews of a traditional African American church. She explored the power of song in intimate situations and its ability to teach, express and share stories with the souls of others. Lachune's music combines southern beauty with classical perfection, earthy gospel and folk expressiveness. She melts the hearts of her listeners with her timeless and versatile sound.

Lachune's broad cultural background exposed her to musical concepts such as quartet gospel, call and response, and improvisation. Her father, a local minister, urges her to pursue a musical career, which she does. Lachune absorbs everything she can, from the bright sounds of Southern music to the drama of opera. She performs as an opening act for artists and, in addition to her solo career, sings lead in her band Noir 5. She also works as an artist in residence for her church while pursuing her Master of Music in Vocal Performance in Fort Worth, Texas. She comes from a family of tobacco farmers in the rural South. Lachune had no idea how she would make a living as a creative or freelancer. She was a nursing student at a small college in South Carolina when she met a woman from SWBTS who was teaching a course on music appreciation. That's when she first realized how far-reaching music could be. Lachune realized that it was something she enjoyed doing and that it was destined to be a part of my career. It was then that she realized that while being a nurse was very practical, she wanted more. She wanted to pursue a musical education.

Like most photographers, Lachune wanted everything money could buy when she started out. However, she used my Canon 70d, two lenses and a softbox light. She felt confident in her abilities when she started charging for headshots/portraits. Lachune was good with her camera and felt prepared for all lighting conditions. She's still learning, but frugality fuels her creativity by forcing her to ask herself, "What can I make happen with what I already have?"

Growing up, singing was part of my family's life, and Lachune sang in church, but she never considered it as a career option. In 2019, she began working as an audio-visual associate while studying music. She knew little about audio at first, but quickly learned a lot. She realized that she needed some sort of sonic vision in order to become a singer. She had no idea that working at AV would help her in so many other areas, including lighting, design, vocal/instrument recording, photography, online education and so on. Lachune was recently an artist in residence in Fort Worth, where she launched her debut album, 'Sing Hallelujah!' She currently works as a vocal coach at Shine by Carey Lewis, an intensive training program for aspiring artists.
