Africa League 2020: Barack Obama joins hands with NBA, FIFA to start basketball championship in continent
Former US president Barack Obama is involved an innovative, sporty plan to create employment, financial and developmental opportunities in Africa. Obama has joined hands with National Basketball Association (NBA) and Fédération internationale de basket-ball (FIBA) to launch a professional basketball league in the continent, with the former president set to play a huge role in the implementation of the project.
Marking NBA’s first collaboration to run a pro-sports league outside of the United States, the Basketball Africa League will see 12 teams within the continent battling it out for the championship.
Squads from Angola, Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia are said to be taking their talents to the championship.
