‘Stumptown’ Episode 14: Tookie’s tacos help Grey’s Bad Alibi flourish, but will the new association last?

As the old relationships on ‘Stumptown’ have begun to wear out, we were introduced to a new one in Episode 14 ‘Til Dex Do Us Part’ as Grey McConnell (Jake Johnson) and Tookie (Adrian Martinez)  step into a complicated yet interesting business alliance.

At the beginning of the latest episode, we see Tookie and Ansel Parios (Cole Sibus) surprise Grey with a new business proposal to bring the streetside taco truck and Bad Alibi together.

Although Grey doesn’t seem too excited about the idea, he lets Tookie and Ansel sell their tacos at his bar for a week, only as a trial-and-error attempt.

Tookie, however, is absolutely thrilled about getting a bigger platform to serve his delicacies. The next thing we see is that he’s explaining Ansel his new role at the bar which requires the latter to ditch his usual tasks to run to the market and to bring supplies that Tookie needs.

Grey is further irked by a nosy Tookie, who conveniently walks into the bar owner’s gaming room like it’s nobody’s business. But, when Grey tells Tookie that Bad Alibi isn’t benefiting from his tacos, Tookie decides to dissolve their working relationship saying he was only trying to build Bad Alibi’s reputation, which is bogged down by bad reviews.

But, it doesn’t take Grey long to realize that Tookie’s tacos actually helped Bad Alibi get back in the race and goes back crawling to him. An apology and a couple of compliments by Grey is all it takes to convince Tookie to return to Bad Alibi.

But, we wonder how long the new association between Grey and Ansel would last considering the former’s latest role as an undercover for Miles Hoffman’s investigation. In the episode, he’s even seen telling Dex that though he loves Bad Alibi unconditionally, he jumped each time he got a call from Miles for an investigation.

We also saw Grey put his skills to use when he was called in to bust a carjacking ring, looking happier than ever.

Tookie and Grey each have their own opinion about running the bar, and that was one of the reasons they fell apart in the first place.

It remains to be seen in the upcoming episodes if Grey and Tookie are compatible enough to make their new alliance work by putting their differences aside.

'Stumptown' airs on Wednesdays on ABC.
