92-year-old beaten up by mother and four others with a brick for bumping into her daughter
A 92-year-old man was allegedly assaulted, including being beaten with a brick, by a woman and four men for bumping into the woman's daughter while taking a stroll around his Los Angeles neighborhood.
The nonagenarian, identified as Rodolfo Rodriguez from Mexico, was reportedly walking through his neighborhood around 7 pm when the incident occurred. Rodriguez's family said that the grandad accidentally bumped into a young girl while he was trying to get around her.
The girl's mother, who the cops are looking for and is yet to be identified, reportedly noticed this and became furious. She allegedly shoved Rodriguez to the ground, picked up a brick and hit him in the face with it, according to the Bee.
The horrifying incident was caught on a cell phone camera by a woman in the area. The woman reportedly said that after the mother's assault on the old man, four other men joined her in beating the grandfather.
While talking to Sacramento Bee, the witness who took a clip of the incident said that she heard the mother telling the grandfather to go back to his own country.
"Go back to your country, why are you here?" the witness quoted the mother as saying.
The witness also said that she confronted the woman asking her why she attacked the man and then called the police. The mother reportedly told her that she attacked Rodriguez as he had tried to touch her daughter.
The witness, who was present during the entire incident, shot back saying that was a lie, according to reports.
Rodriguez, who does not understand English, is reportedly a legal resident of the United States. Reports state that he doesn't understand why he was attacked by the mother in his neighborhood.
A picture of Rodriquez, released by his family after the incident, showed an elderly man with a badly-bruised face and blood dripping down his nose. Another picture of the nonagenarian showed him lying down in a hospital bed with bruises on his nose, mouth and cheek and swollen eyes.
Rodriquez's family also released a statement, saying that the grandfather had suffered a broken cheekbone and broken ribs.
Rodriguez's grandson Erik Mendoza, while talking to KCBS, said: "Who would do this to anybody? A 92-year-old senior citizen, what can he do to anybody? There's no harm that he meant."
According to the KTLA, police are looking for the woman and the four who were captured attacking the 92-year-old.
Deputy D'Angelo Robinson said: "We are concerned, especially with the type of crime they committed. There was what appears to be a four-year-old child there who witnessed the entire thing. We can't let these kind of people like that out in our streets."
A GoFundMe account has been sent up by Rodriguez's family for his medical treatment and the page has raised over $33,500 so far.
The page reads: "On July 4th at around 7pm, my grandfather Rodolfo Rodriguez whose 92 years of age was going for his daily walk around the block when he was assaulted by and African American lady and five other guys. He is doing really bad, has a lot of bruises on his face and a broken cheekbone."
The page, in three days, received double the amount of the fund goal originally set up at $15,000.
