'911: Lone Star' Season 2 Episode 1: Gina Torres' Tommy Vega is a 'great addition' and already a fan favorite

Live Tyler's Michelle Blake is missed on the show, but in her absence comes new character Tommy Vega, played by Gina Torres. The new character has made a strong impression with fans — some who were already big fans of Gina Torres as an actor while others were quickly won over by her performance. 

Longtime fans of Torres were thrilled to see her the moment she came on. "TOMMY MF VEGA YEAHHHH WELCOME TO THE 126!!!!! #911LoneStar glad to have you," wrote one fan. "I’ve always loved Gina Torres. It wasn't long before Tommy Vega was making her own unique impact on the show, first with an intense scene where she reset a broken bone by hand, followed soon after by a powerfully emotional scene shared with her husband after her first 24-hour shift. "She’s carrying this episode of #911LoneStar," said one viewer. "I loved Gina as Jessica Pearson in suits and I’m falling in love with her on #911LoneStar as captain vega," wrote a fan. "Tommy Vega has been on TV for like half an hour and @ginatorres is already giving us Emmy worthy moments," wrote this user. "I love her. It's safe to say that though it was hard for fans to say goodbye to Michelle Blake, Tommy Vega is being welcomed by the show's fans with open arms.

The next episode of '911: Lone Star' airs on January 25 at 9 pm ET on Fox.
