Tiffany Brooks did her first ever project within a tight budget of $3,000 and in classic Brooks style, it was one that she absolutely nailed. It became the stepping stone to a very successful career. So, if there is anyone who can make the most of a $50,000 budget while delivering homes a much-needed makeover, it's Brooks.

In her new show, she does exactly this — renovate homes all within the budget of $50,000. The first episode sees Brooks helping Allan and Rebecca, a couple who felt like their home badly needed an update. With a budget of $50,000, the couple showed Brooks three different problem areas in their home that they believed needed to changed.

First was the kitchen and the dining area, seeing that there was a space issue and the section needed an update. Up next was the couple's bedroom. Here Allan felt as though the space was cramped and that the couple could use a more open area. These were the two main problems and the couple also pointed out that their foyer could definitely benefit from an open floor plan.

Brooks proposed three possible ideas for the couple to go with.

The sanctuary

Budget: Under $50,000

The sanctuary focused on giving Allan just what he dreamed of — an open master bedroom, with a massive en-suite bathroom. However, this would also involve absorbing their son's bedroom into their room and moving their son into the bedroom.

The family style

Budget: $50,000
This floor plan involved revamping the foyer and the kitchen and making their living area, a place they spent the most amount time in, the most accessible.

Spread the love

Budget: $53,000

This option involved smaller renovations across most of the spaces in the home, allowing the couple to compromise. While Allan wanted the bedroom to be done, Rebecca wanted to focus on the kitchen.

The couple finally went with...

Since the family spends a considerable amount of time in the family room, they decided to renovate the kitchen, foyer and laundry room — a sizeable chunk of their first-floor area. Brooks went with a modern farmhouse vibe, focusing on storage and opening the space out so that it wouldn't look cramped. They also expanded their budget, to get the most value from the makeover, adding an additional $10,000 to the original $50,000.

Breaking up the budget systematically

The foyer cost $2,500. The fireplace which got a makeover cost $750. The wallpaper that Rebecca helped select and went across the foyer came up to $875. The hood wood and backsplash were definitely the most pricer investments at $1,500 and $1,000 respectively. And of course, the furnishing came in at $10,000. It was all worth it in the end, seeing that the couple absolutely loved the area. The total cost of the renovation came up to $60,000.
