A teenage boy has died after being sucked into pipes of a fountain when his friends messed with the controls. The tragic incident reportedly happened when a group of friends was playing in the fountain at Finca Liana Mostoles Park, Móstoles, Spain. According to reports, the 16-year-old boy whose name has not been revealed was visiting the 12-inch-deep pool with his friends. Though swimming in the pool is prohibited the teenager chose to relax in it and that is when things turned fatal. Some of his friends with whom he was messing around with went to the fountain’s control panel and fiddled with the system, leading to turning up of the water pressure. Due to the mischievous activity of the youngsters, the boy was sucked into the pipe below.

After understanding what actually had happened, the mates of the teenager tried to save him but failed. They then called emergency services that took nearly 50 minutes to get the boy back from the fountain pipes. Emergency personnel also tried to revive him for over half-an-hour but could not succeed. Later a preliminary investigation into the case stated that the youngsters pulled out a mesh cover over the controls, which allowed them to mess with the water pressure system. To stop any future mishap like this, the center-right Popular Party in Mostoles has asked the council to check all the security panels of the city’s fountains.

Meanwhile, a team of psychiatric have visited the deceased teenager’s mother to inform her about the tragic incident and offer support.

A similar kind of incident happened some four years ago when a Florida scuba diver was sucked into a nuclear plant intake pipe. However, the incident did not kill the man who lived to tell his horrific experience. Giving details of the incident, Christopher Le Cun said he was not aware that he was scuba diving near a pipe from the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant in Florida that pulled in around 500,000 gallons of ocean water per minute. But it did not take long for Le Cun to realize that he was in some major problem.

"When I was first sucked into the pipe, it was so turbulent it was unbelievable. I had to hang onto my mask. It was 20-30 seconds before I got my bearings," the diver told CNN, adding he spent about four to five minutes tripping through the dark pipe, which reportedly was 16 feet in diameter and a quarter-mile long.

"Then I saw a tiny light in the distance, almost like somebody lit a match, then all of a sudden it was on me. It spit me out into the sunlight into this canal and there were tons of fish around. Goliath groupers, tarpons, a bunch of fish that didn't make it,” Le Cun said. The diver explained that he was in a pond at the nuclear plant. "I saw a worker there and he asks, 'How did you get in here?' He says, 'You're really lucky, we were getting ready to leave for the night in five minutes.' "
