A 12-year-old child was granted a temporary harassment prevention order against Ezra Miller after the actor harassed a non-binary youngster and acted inappropriately towards them. The incident, which took place in Massachusetts, is the latest in a string of controversies the actor has been involved in.

This incident comes at the heels of another controversy, in which the parents of teen activist Tokata Iron Eyes got a protective order against Miller. The parents accused the actor of displaying "cult-like" behavior toward Tokata and plying her with alcohol, LSD and marijuana. Tokata met Miller, 29, when she was 12. At the time, the then 23-year-old Miller visited their reservation in North Dakota. Tokata's parents said that Miller and their daughter developed a friendship and that he even flew her to London to visit the 'Fantastic Beasts' studio two years later.

The Massachusetts incident

The Daily Beast spoke with the 12-year-old accuser, their mother, and another neighbor. Miller was present at a neighbor's house in Greenfield, Massachusetts, where the mother, the child and another neighbor were also visiting. The house is located about 40 miles from Miller's ranch in Stamford, Vermont. The neighbor, at whose house the gathering took place, is part of a band with musician Whitney Suters, who is close friends with the actor.

“[Miller] was wearing a bulletproof vest—and I had no idea until later that they were armed,” the visiting neighbor said. The mother reportedly said something about recently traveling with “her tribe” of people, which made Miller accuse her of cultural appropriation. Then, during a conversation about the board game Parcheesi, Miller said that it had Rastafarian roots. The visiting neighbor, who is half-Black, inquired from Miller which sect of the Rastafari movement it originated from.

“At this point, Ezra explodes and started screaming directly into my face,” the visiting neighbor said. “They said, ‘You don’t even know what the fuck you’re talking about. What did you say to me? What did you just say to me?!’”

The woman claimed she was startled and claimed that when he opened his big Sherpa jacket, she could see they had a gun and they said, ‘Talking like that could get you into a really serious situation.’” Miller then shifted their focus on the child, saying, "“I’ve talked extensively with your child, and they have a lot of power to them. At one point, you’re going to realize that you don’t have any control over them anymore. They’re an elevated being, and they would be lucky to have someone like me guide them.”

Miller then allegedly addressed the mother, who dresses Goth, accusing her of being a witch and a vampire. “Do you want to drink my blood? Do you!?” they kept yelling at her. Miller then allegedly approached the child, complimenting them, asking them to add Miller on Instagram and telling them to pursue fashion. “They automatically were just weirdly drawn to me and kept talking about how they love my outfit and love my style, and kept going on and on about how it was great,” the child recalled. “It was really uncomfortable. I was really nervous. I was scared to be around them after he’d yelled at my mother and she was crying.”

The mother and the visiting neighbor said they believe Miller may have been “under the influence” because they had dilated pupils and their behavior was erratic. Miller later apologized for their behavior but returned to pester the family on various other occasions. The mother and child said that Miller came to them in April and hugged the child, pressing their body closely against them, making them uncomfortable as a result. Miller again visited in June. During that visit, the child expressed their interest in horses, which prompted the actor to say that they would get many horses and the child could come to their Vermont farm and help care for the herd. However, ever since the news about Tokata Iron Eyes broke, they have not heard from Miller.

Tokata's parents have claimed that Miller, who identifies as non-binary and queer and uses the pronouns they/them, supplied drugs and alcohol to their underage daughter. They have also alleged that Tokata dropped out of school in December after Miller disrupted her Massachusetts private schooling. People reported that the actor displayed "cult-like psychological manipulation" and had "controlling behavior", according to their parents. Tokata's parents said in the lawsuit, "Ezra uses violence, intimidation, threat of violence, fear, paranoia, delusions, and drugs to hold sway over a young adolescent Tokata." The parents claimed that they found bruises on Tokata's body when they went to Miller's home in Vermont in January to retrieve them after they dropped out. They also found that she did not have her driving license, car keys or a bank card with her. Despite being brought back to her parents' home, Tokata fled to New York again to meet Miller. The two have since been traveling together to Vermont, Hawaii and Los Angeles.  Tokata, however, refuted their parents' claims.
