A man has been arrested for allegedly hurling fireworks at people in the aftermath of the Million MAGA March in Washington DC which occurred on Saturday, November 14, 2020, in the 1600 block of K Street, Northwest, according to police report.

The 26-year-old man, identified as Javien Michael Dawson, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon during Saturday’s attack that had taken place not far from the White House, police said. The video had shown counter-protesters throwing debris and fireworks at a small group of supporters of President Donald Trump who were sitting outside a local PJ Clarke’s restaurant after the rally.

The Police Department said that around 5.40 pm on Saturday, Dawson “discharged a commercial-grade firework at several victims at the listed location”. He later escaped but was caught by responding officers. Dawson was one of at least 21 people arrested during the unrest. Six people were caught under the weapons charges, including four for carrying guns without a permit or license, and two were charged for assaulting a police officer. Several others were charged with assault, theft, or disorderly conduct. The incident happened after several thousand Trump supporters protested the election results and marched to the Supreme Court. The march later led to nighttime clashes with counter-demonstrators further leading to multiple arrests, fistfights and at least one stabbing.

According to an NBC Washinton report, a total of 21 people have been arrested during the protests and clashes that happened in DC. Apart from Dawson, a man and a woman from Georgia were detained after policemen found them openly carrying guns, according to a police report. Joshua Skillman, 28, and Samantha Falk, 33, faced multiple weapons charges. Bobby Smalls, 29, was charged with disruptive conduct, inciting violence and carrying a dangerous weapon. Police stated that he was carrying a knife.

Dashawna Gause, 28, was arrested for disorderly conduct, inciting violence and possessing a prohibited weapon. Police said she had an electroshock weapon. Kenneth Wayne Deberry, 39, was charged with disorderly conduct, inciting violence, aggravated assault and felon in possession of a firearm, while 24-year-old Alexus Doris Owens was charged with disorderly conduct, inciting violence and simple assault.

NBC reporter Shomari Stone shared the video of the incident on Twitter and wrote, "BREAKING 3 Trump supporters are eating outside at a restaurant, 2 blocks from the White House. 16th & K St. A large group confronts them. Someone throws what appears to be fireworks. Moments later, police push back a crowd that wants to confront Trump supporters: @nbcwashington."

To which one replied: "Guess BLM will get blamed for this lawlessness. This behavior only hurts the cause. This is still America. I hate Trump and what he represents but I hate this more.. Just awful." Another speculated, "It is staged. They are provacatures. This has putins fingerprints on it. One of Donnie's private calls to vlad gave him the plan to have this madman march and then cause riots."

Blaming Trump, one said, "The problem here is Trump could’ve told these groups to back all the way off but he chose not to so I blame this on Trump." Another tweet read: "This kind of confrontation is so counterproductive. I mean, could we maybe avoid giving fascists promotional material? Please?"
