If there ever was a duo that could achieve the impossible, it would have to be Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt. This week's episode saw the couple back at it again, building a house for Jon, Jacklyn and their three children including the newest family member, baby Penny Grace. The family of five had a very cramped living situation before the show, sharing a tiny rental space that had only one bathroom. With three children and hectic work lives, seeing that Jon is a chef, the family was in desperate need of a home that could accommodate all of them comfortably. And if there's anyone that could pull off the task of building a home in 100 days, it's Brain and Mika.

Meet Jon and Jacklyn

One thing you can be sure of while tuning in to '100 Day Dream Home' is that the couples on the show usually have their own adorable story. Jacklyn and Jon are no exception and turns out, their story isn't too different from Brian and Mika's. The couple also met back in high school. They currently have two children, a boy and a girl. Jacky was pregnant around the time the Kleinschmidts met the couple. She went on to give birth before the 100 days could begin. The couple welcomed a baby girl — Penny Grace. Jon is a professional chef, so it doesn't come as a surprise that he was extremely particular about the look and feel of his kitchen. With a budget, a timeline and a new family member waiting for the new home, the clock was ticking for Brian and Mika to get this home ready.

The house cost them $425,000

Jon and Jacky's plot was covered in overgrowth since it hadn't been maintained for a while. Luckily, that wasn't much of an issue for the Kleinschmidts, who noticed the land's potential instantly. The plot cost the couple $75,000. As per the floor plan, their new house was 2,200 sqft and would include five bedrooms, along with a backyard and a front porch, since the couple likes to entertain. The budget of the house was $350,000, of which the construction cost the couple $330,000. The Kleinschmidts spent around $11,000 on flooring, $10,500 on cabinets and $3,200 on tiles. The remaining $20,000 went into furnishing and special projects.

The Kleinschmidts gave them a 'farm-to-front-door' garden

Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt always pay special attention when it comes to putting together the home's special projects and this time around, it was no different. Seeing that Jon was very particular about how he wanted his kitchen — he insisted on dark cabinets, unlike most couples who go for white, and he required everything to be space-efficient seeing that he liked to cook with his family. He almost had them furnish the entire space in stainless steel.

Instantly, the Kleinschmidts knew just how important food and the kitchen was to the family, seeing that they even requested an outdoor dining area on the front porch which was a first, even for Mika to design. So when it came to the special project, the Kleinschmidts decided that a 'farm-to-front-door' garden was the way to go. Jon now has his very own garden with fresh produce in the backyard and in the kitchen, and the Kleinschmidts hooked him up with a super easy to maintain herb wall. The total expenditure on this special project was around $4,750 and by the look on Jon's face and the fact that he spent 30 minutes admiring his new kitchen, it seems like it was worth it.
