LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Law Roach's departure from celebrity styling marked a significant shift in his career trajectory, driven by many personal and professional factors. At the forefront was Roach's prioritization of his mental and physical well-being, as he acknowledged the toll that the demanding nature of the fashion industry had taken on him. The politics lies, and false narratives inherent in the industry had contributed to his decision, prompting him to step back and reevaluate his priorities.

A profound personal tragedy, the loss of his 3-year-old nephew, had also served as a catalyst, compelling Roach to confront his mortality and reexamine his life's trajectory. Additionally, Roach had navigated challenges unique to being a Black stylist in an industry often rife with systemic barriers, including nepotism and racism, which further fueled his desire for change.

Talking about nepotism, Law said to The Cut, “It’s so strong because these stylists, these white female stylists, they grew up with these white publicists and agents,” he said. “It’s this network that I was able to penetrate.” “I felt like that was the best way for me to walk away from the industry for a while to just, you know, work on my mental, my mental health and my physical health,” Roach said.

Roach can be next seen as a co-host in the upcoming E! series 'OMG Fashun' alongside Julia Fox.

What happened between Law Roach and Zendaya Louis Vuitton fashion show?

During the show, a video circulated online showing Roach seemingly puzzled when he wasn't given a front-row seat alongside Zendaya. This led to rumors that their relationship had soured and contributed to Roach's decision to retire. However, Roach clarified the situation, explaining that they were running late due to traffic and were both feeling anxious about keeping people waiting.

Roach elaborated on the confusion surrounding the seating arrangement, stating, "Even for years, like, I'm always used to sitting next to her." He emphasized that Zendaya wasn't trying to sideline him but rather directing him to an available seat. He recounted, "The seat behind her, when you see her turn around and touch the seat, it wasn’t her telling me to sit there, it was her telling me like, ‘That’s Darnell’s seat.'"

Despite the misunderstanding, Roach stressed that he harbors no ill feelings towards Zendaya. He clarified, "That became really tough because it made people think that Zendaya wasn’t taking care of me and wasn’t making sure I was taken care of." Roach emphasized that any assumptions about their relationship were unfounded, asserting, "There's no beef with LVMH."

Law Roach says he’s ‘suffering for years’ in the industry

In his revealing interview, Law Roach opened up about the profound sense of suffering he endured throughout his career in celebrity styling. “I've been suffering for years… I've done everything. I'm very grateful that I've been able to move and climb in this industry the way I have. But I can't say that I didn't do that without suffering," he said to People.

Roach's candid confession shed light on the pervasive societal expectation for Black individuals to endure trials and troubles in pursuit of success. He spoke to the inherent struggle ingrained in the Black experience, noting, "As Black people in this country, it's embedded in us to suffer... You suffer through things to get to the other side... You suffer through Earth to get to heaven."
